Frequently asked questions
Can I unlock a PDF without knowing the password?
No. PunchPDF removes protection only when you enter the correct current password — it is not a password cracker, and we believe that's the right thing for a trustworthy tool.
Is it safe to enter my PDF password here?
Yes. The password is used only inside your browser to decrypt the file locally. Nothing is uploaded, transmitted or stored — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
Why unlock a PDF at all?
Bank statements, salary slips and tax documents often arrive password-protected. Removing the password (once you've verified the file) makes them easier to merge, archive or share within your own records.
