Privacy Policy

The short version
Your files never leave your device. Every PDF operation on PunchPDF — merging, splitting, compressing, converting, protecting — runs entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. We do not receive, store, or even see your documents.
1. Files and documents
- Files you select are opened and processed locally in your browser's memory. They are never uploaded to our servers or any third party.
- Passwords you enter (for PDF protection) are used only inside your browser to encrypt the file locally. They are never transmitted or stored.
- When you close or reload the page, all file data is discarded from memory.
2. Information we collect
- No account is required and we do not collect names, email addresses or any personal details to use the tools.
- Local settings: your theme preference (light/dark) and similar settings are stored in your own browser's local storage. This data stays on your device.
- Server logs: like every website, our hosting provider records standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and troubleshooting.
3. Third-party services
PunchPDF hosts its own software libraries, so pages load without contacting third-party script servers. Two exceptions: display fonts load from Google Fonts, and the optional OCR tool downloads its recognition engine from the jsDelivr CDN on first use. These are standard requests that may reveal your IP address to those services; no document data is ever included.
4. Advertising and cookies
PunchPDF is free to use and is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies is described in the Google advertising policy.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings.
- Visitors in the EEA, UK and other regions with consent requirements are shown a consent message before any advertising cookies are set, and can decline or manage their choices at any time.
5. Analytics
We use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation to understand aggregate usage — for example, how many people visit, which tools are most popular and which countries visitors come from. Analytics records only anonymous usage events (such as "merge completed"); it never has access to your documents, file names or file contents.
6. Children
PunchPDF is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
